Dark art has always spoken to me, and I love creating it.
This piece is called Broken by Fate: A Tribute to Lucy of Elfen Lied (2016), my tribute to one of the deepest manga and anime series I have ever encountered. Elfen Lied (2002), written by Lynn Okamoto, explores dissociation, violence, and trauma through a viscerally haunting horror lens. The character Lucy is the antagonist of the series, but she represents the dichotomies of life’s darkness so well. Thus, I created an art piece honoring her.
Writing and Media Analyses
I create visual media to make my writing and media analyses more personal and more tangible.
This original poem of mine, titled, “Ephemeral Decadence” (2025), traverses the borders of queerness, grief, and pain through an introspective lens. It remains one of the deepest poems I have ever written so far.
Musical Portraiture
In addition to my dark pieces, I am passionate about creating portraits of my favorite musicians through traditional and digital art mediums.
The artists featured here are Amy Lee of Evanescence; Lzzy Hale of Halestorm; Taylor Swift; and Maria Brink of In This Moment.
Manga and Anime Portrayals
I also create pieces that surround my favorite manga and anime series. This untitled piece (2015) is a tribute to Nagisa Aoi and Shizuma Hanazono of the manga and anime series, Strawberry Panic! (2005), written by Sakurako Kimino. This particular series was the first yuri series I encountered, and I am forever in debt to its beautiful and poignant depiction of love and resilience that inspired my own identity discovery.
This piece, titled, Ash Lynx: Falling (2023), was created as a tribute to Ash Lynx from Akimi Yoshida's manga series, Banana Fish (1985), and the 2018 anime adaptation. It remains one of the most heartbreaking depictions of violence, queerness, and pain I have ever experienced.
